Hello guys.
I have big problem with my laptop.
Laptop is ThinkPad EDGE 14 NVS52CD AMD Athlon II X2 P340 2.2GHz 2048MB 500GB 14.0' LED WXGA .
Problem is:
(afer bios check ok) this is a message:
WARNING
2200: Machine Type and Serial Number are invalid.
2201: Machine UUID is invalid.
Windows 7 crashes. I have tried to reinstal Windows but without success. It always freezes.
When I press CTRL+ALT+DEL lenovo turns off (but it should reset).
One service said that EEPROM of BIOS is dead and I should change entire motherboard.
I have tried with Lenovo Maintence Tool (bootable usb stick) to enter new serial number but it doesn't work. I can't read serial number from my computer or even enter the new one.
LMT says memory overflow problem when I try to enter new serial. Invalid checksum when I try to read any of serial numbers.
Can someone help me?
Buy new laptop or try to change bios chip?
Tnx

The 2nd is 'Machine Type & Serial Number Invalid', followed by 'update BIOS to correct this'. I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version for the IBM 6794-73G, when I enter the BIOS the Machine Type is '1234567' and the Serial Number is 'INVALID' both are greyed out & I don't have the option to correct them. Problem with BIOS - Lenovo thinkpad edge. Machine Type and Serial Number are invalid. When i start my computer, i recieve a 'ERROR: Machine type and serial no. Is invalid' and i hear a beep sound from the CPU at the same time. Apr 09, 2016  2200: Machine Type Invalid and Serial Number are invalid. 2201: Machine UUID is Invalid After that, it goes on to boot 'normally'. My research suggests that a it is possible to 'Fix' this issue with software that's only obtainable by Lenovo field techs. Are there truly no copies of this software anywhere?

I have a second or third generation X1C. I've used it for three years. As of recent, I shocked the corner of the chasis, causing the computer to restart. (You know, rubbing on carpet type shock.) This may happened twice.

The trackpad and nipple works wonky now. It won't work on occasion, then work again. It won't work if the machine isn't flat on a table.

I'm also recieving error message upon booting. They include a variation of the following:

  • 0189: Invalid RFID Configuration Information Area

  • 0188: Invalid RFID Serialization Information Area.

  • 0187: EAIA data access error.

  • 2200: Machine Type and Serial Number are invalid.

  • 2201: Machine UUID is invalid

I've checked Lenovo's Numeric Error Codes, and it seems to be 'System Board' that is at fault. Also, there doesn't seem to be no uniform or (easy) resolution based on other people's experiences.

The computer is still fully functional -- sans the trackpad and nipple wonkiness. If I use a mouse, I'm okay.

On a fresh OS install, all the problems persist.

Please advise /r/thinkpad experts.
